They are not as high-profile as the WGA, but I would like to bring everyone’s attention to the imminent strike action by thousands of hotel workers in Los Angeles. They are set to go on strike tomorrow, July 1st, 2023.

More than 15,000 hotel workers are seeking higher pay, better benefits, and working conditions. This includes an across-the-board $5 an hour raise, as well as affordable healthcare and better pensions. They also are seeking a ban on the use of E-Verify, which is used to deny employment to undocumented workers and workers involved with the criminal justice system. I distinctly remember during Ye Olde Hellish Childhood Days of being dragged to Baptist churches this one guest preacher that went on and on about how important it is for Christian men to be friends with other Christian men but how difficult it is for men to have friends, because of course when you become friends with another man you will naturally want to have sex with him, so the temptation, y'know? it’s truly unfortunate that tumblr has decided the way to get people to switch to firefox is by calling anyone not using it a stubborn dumbass and insulting them if they point out any issues they’ve ever had with firefox (including “if firefox runs slow for you it’s because you have a shitty computer so it’s your own fault, suffer in silence”)

because it might be in my best interest to switch but the pathological demand avoidance part of my brain is screaming that I am being told what to do by someone being extremely condescending and so I can’t do it under any circumstances or I will actively die
